Each country in Europe independently regulates the issues of tolls. This applies to both their amount, the form of payment, and the method of control. In some countries, travel is free, in others you pay at the entrance to a given section of the road (as in Poland), and in others, vignettes are used in electronic or physical form (glass stickers). It’s also worth adding that there are countries where you pay to drive on all roads, not just highways or expressways (eg Romania). This means that entry into this country is associated with the payment of tolls. In other countries, for example, tunnels or bridges are subject to an additional fee – driving through them without paying a fee is associated with the imposition of a penalty notice.
