Moreas Motorway

The Moreas motorway is part of the European route E65 and passes through the Greek cities of Corinth, Tripoli and Kalamata.

Currently there are five toll stations operating in both directions on the highway. Olympia Motorway

The Olympia motorway is part of the European route E65 . It starts in Athens, passes through Corinth and ends in Patras.

There are five main toll stations on the motorway (located on the motorway itself) and toll stations at the entrance/exit of the motorway.

The Ionia Odos motorway is part of the European route E951 and is managed by the Nea Odos company. It connects Ioannina (Egnatia highway) and Patras (Rio-Antirion bridge), and has a length of 196 km.

The Aktio – Preveza tunnel provides a fast route between Aitoloakarnania and Southern Greece along the coast. It is the first and so far the only underwater tunnel in Greece. The length of the tunnel is 1,570 m-code (of which 909 m-code is underwater) and has 2 lanes in each direction.

Bridge Rio – Antirio

The Rio-Antirion bridge is located at the intersection of two main highways: Athens-Corinth-Patra-Kalamata and Ioannina-Antirion, which connect the most important cities of Greece and are part of the European highway network.

The length of the bridge is 2,880 m. It has 6 lanes. 2 lanes in each direction and plus 2 emergency lanes.

Parking in Greece

A new parking control system was introduced in the center of Athens in November 2006. Parking is marked with blue lines for permanent residents, white lines for visitors, and yellow lines for special situations and professional needs.

Time is payable on weekdays from 09:00 to 21:00, on Saturdays from 09:00 to 16:00. The maximum parking time is 3 hours, and the rate is €0.5 per hour for the first 2 hours. For 2.5 hours – €4, and for 3 hours – €6.

Violation of parking rules – € 80, withdrawal of driver’s license for 10 days and technical passport with numbers for 20 days.

Alcohol

The maximum permissible blood alcohol level in Greece 0.5 ‰ .

Low light

Dipped beam is optional in Greece when driving during the day and mandatory when driving at night.

It is recommended to use dipped beam in conditions of insufficient visibility caused by bad weather (fog, snow or rain). In this case, it is forbidden to move only with the dimensions turned on.

Children under 3 years of age may travel only when using appropriate child restraints appropriate for their weight.
