But we judge by our own standards. However, the distances between north and south in this country are quite significant. For example, there are almost a thousand kilometers between Phuket and Pattaya. Or rather 993 .

How to get to Phuket by train

Fans of long trips around Thailand will be able to get to Phuket from Pattaya by train. It should be noted that this road will require several transfers. First you will need to travel from Pattaya to Bangkok railway station by local train or bus.

From Bangkok you also need to take a train to Surat Thani station, from where you again take a bus directly to Phuket. Every day, more than a dozen trains depart from Bangkok to Surat Thani. The journey will take approximately eight hours. A ride on seated seats will cost 700 baht, and on recumbent seats – 1,400 baht.

What is the difference between Phuket and Pattaya?

As we have already said, these resorts are located in different parts of Thailand. In addition, they are located in different climatic zones. Pattaya is in the tropical monsoon , and Phuket is in the tropical equatorial . The temperature difference is small. The beach season at both resorts lasts almost all year round. The “low season” in both places runs from approximately April-May to October-November.

Phuket is an oceanic island . What does this mean? It is open to winds and waves. The west and south coasts are often stormy. Especially in summer and autumn. Even in the high season, a large wave hits the shore every 5-7 minutes. There are reverse currents that can drag a person to the bottom. You must remember this and monitor the water surface.

Phuket should not be chosen by those who cannot swim or by parents with small children. If you want to go to Phuket, then choose small beaches closer to the northwestern tip of the island.

The beaches in Phuket are large and wide. The depth near the island reaches several kilometers, unlike Pattaya, which is located in the relatively shallow Gulf of Thailand. In addition, there is a risk of seismic hazard. At the bottom of the ocean near Phuket there is a dormant volcano. It was Phuket that took the main blow in 2004 from a huge tsunami.

Otherwise, Phuket is a great holiday destination. Here there is everything that a tourist’s soul desires – delicious, exotic food, fruits, shopping, natural beauty and man-made monuments. The opportunity to spend your time the way you want – in wild entertainment or quietly and calmly.

Pattaya is a resort city on the shores of the huge but shallow Gulf of Thailand. Due to this, it is protected from huge waves and tsunamis. But there are problems here. Many people complain that the sea in Pattaya is very dirty. It is really unpleasant to swim in the central part of the city. The water is cloudy and sometimes debris floats in it. But as soon as you move away from the center, the sea becomes much cleaner.

The reason for the turbidity in the sea is connected not only with the abundance of tourists, but with the peculiarity of the seabed. The sand here is very fine and light and even with slight waves turns into suspension. It feels like the water is dirty.

The number of tourists here is huge. This is facilitated by hundreds of hotels and apartment buildings. Pattaya has been called Pattaya in recent years. It has grown partly due to the large flow of Russian tourists. There are even Russian quarters with new, modern condominiums.

This is the most fun city in Thailand. Here you can find entertainment for every taste and budget. It’s difficult to list everything that is here, it’s easier to say what is not here – boredom.

It is better to come here at the turn of the seasons. When it rains a little, so do the tourists. During the “high season” it will be difficult to find a place on popular beaches. But Pattaya has an undeniable advantage – it is 15-25% cheaper than Phuket. Not only accommodation, but also shopping, food and even the plane.

Airplane

The easiest and fastest, but at the same time expensive way to get from Pattaya to Phuket and back is by plane. Passengers are transported by Bangkok Airways, and the flight time does not exceed an hour and a half. This method is perfect for those who save time on their vacation and try to see as many sights as possible in a short period of time.

There are also flight options with transfers, however, they are unlikely to save time – the flight schedule is designed in such a way that the wait can take several hours, so if you decide to fly by plane, give your preference to a direct flight.

The flight option with transfers is inconvenient not only because of the long wait, but also due to the high cost. As a rule, a direct flight costs tourists one hundred dollars, and a flight through several airports will cost twice as much.
