Free internet in Croatia

Croatia is not a distant island, but a typical European country, and the Internet is a basic need for all residents. Therefore, while you are there, you will have no problem scrolling through Facebook, calling your relatives and showing off your photos by the sea 🙂

You can connect to wi-fi for free at:
– All airports in Croatia (2-4 hours free)
– Your accommodation, hostels, hotels
– FlixBus buses (if you have to travel between cities)

There are a lot of car carriers in the country and all of them make flights between cities. Prices are approximately the same, may differ by 1 – 2 €, but free wi-fi is guaranteed at FlixBus.

Almost free internet in Croatia

Such internet is available in any bars, cafes, restaurants. The thing is, to connect to it, you need to order anything from the menu. But I have more than once had situations when I simply walked into an establishment, asked if it was possible to connect to their network, and the waiter told me their password.

Wi-Fi passwords will always be different. You will not find passwords here: 9 units or 123456789.

Institutions in Croatia rarely change passwords. Therefore, when you are at your favorite place of rest (beach, park, square, etc.), open the wi-fi settings, check which networks are available (mostly, the name of the establishment corresponds to the name of the network). Go to one of these establishments for coffee, ask the waiter for the Wi-Fi password and then use the free Internet.

Do not hesitate to ask the waiter for the wi-fi password.

Mobile Internet in Croatia

Since you came to work for at least 4-6 months, you can forget about roaming (it will be unrealistically expensive). You need to buy a SIM card from a local operator.

I will briefly tell you the main thing about the Croatian mobile Internet:
Almost all operators work on 4G communication as a standard;
Coverage in cities and their surroundings is excellent, at least 3G will definitely be available;
You can buy a SIM card of the main operators without a passport in:
– supermarkets at the checkout
– operators’ communication salons
– in shops where smartphones and other equipment are sold
– at the post office of any Hrvatska Posta branch – Tisak
newsstands . They can be found at every turn in any city in Croatia.

The Tisak kiosk is the best place to buy a SIM card.

Tisak kiosks have everything, including SIM cards and bus tickets. Just kidding, unfortunately, there are no minibuses in Croatia – only comfortable buses, trams and ferries.

Mobile operators in Croatia

There are three largest operators with the best coverage in the country. To use the Internet, you need to purchase a SIM card from one of them:
– T-Hrvatski Telekom
– A1 Croatia (former VIP)
– Tele2

Each of these operators has a fairly good coverage. Communication is available in all settlements and on highways, except for mountains and national parks.

Tariff prices

I recommend to all our clients to purchase a tourist SIM card from Tele2 – SIM2GO immediately after arriving in Croatia . It will be perfect for the first month while you adapt to the new country.

Its price of 75 Kuna (€9.9) includes:
– 10 GB of Internet
– 200 minutes of calls to all operators in Croatia
– 10 Kuna per account

Over time, purchase a SIM card – A1 and choose one of their tariff plans. I recommend this operator because it has the best coverage and the best prices.

Tariff plans A1

Bezbrižna -299 kuna/month (€40)

– Unlimited Internet
– Unlimited calls and SMS
– 100 minutes of international calls to EU and EEA countries
– 30 minutes and 250 MB in roaming outside the EU and EEA countries

Perfect –189 kunas/hryvnias (€25)

– Unlimited Internet
– Unlimited calls and SMS

Dobra –159 Kuna/month (21 €)

– 10 GB of Internet
– Unlimited calls and SMS

Mala –119 Kuna/month (€16)

– 2 GB of Internet
– Unlimited calls and SMS

All these tariffs offer unlimited calls to all operators in Croatia, the difference is only in the amount of available Internet. I personally use Bezbrižna, but choose a tariff depending on your needs.

As you can see, there will be no problems with the connection in Croatia, and the prices are not so sky-high. It doesn’t matter what tariff you choose, you will always have access to the Internet.
