Toll in Denmark 2023
Danish motorways are free for drivers of motorcycles, cars and other vehicles up to 12 tonnes. The toll is only paid on The Great Belt – Storebælt and Øresund bridges between Sweden and Denmark. Tolls for individual vehicles are based on the height, length and weight of the vehicle.

Storebælt Bridge connects the islands of Sealand and Fyn and has a toll station. Cash in Euros, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian kroner is accepted. For non-cash payments, common cards such as MasterCard, Maestro, Visa and others are accepted.

BroBizz electronic system
BroBizz is a small electronic device used for automatic toll payment. It is placed on the windshield of the car and the tolls are deducted from a linked bank account. A deposit of€27it is payable on purchase.
It is also possible to register the vehicle number plate online without purchasing an electronic device. You will also pay a deposit, but the toll will be automatically deducted based on your registered license plate.
BroBizz is useful for frequent trips over Danish toll bridges, traveling on Scandlines ferries, parking at some Danish airports and in lieu of the electronic AutoPASS system in Norway.
Øresund Bridge toll levels 2023
The Øresundsbron connects Denmark and Sweden. The toll for crossing the bridge is paid at the Lernaken toll station on the Swedish side. Payment is possible in euros, Danish and Swedish kroner, or by credit card. For drivers planning to cross the bridge at least once there and back, it’s worth getting a BroPas.

Motorway tolls for trucks over 12 t
Vehicles over 12 tonnes pay the toll through the Eurovignette electronic system . The Eurovignette is valid for a limited period of time, similar to a vignette, i.e. a day, a week, a month or a year.
The specific amount of the tax depends on the emission class and the number of axles. The Eurovignette is valid in all member countries of the Eurovignette system – Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Sweden. Only one Eurovignette needs to be purchased to drive in all countries.

In Denmark, it is common to pay fines on the spot. Foreigners must pay the fine immediately. If the fine is not paid immediately on the spot, an expedited procedure will follow.

Compulsory car equipment in DenmarkAlways carry a valid driving licence, registration certificate and proof of insurance. In Denmark it is mandatory to have:

Tyres
Winter tires are not compulsory in Denmark, but are recommended in wintry conditions. The minimum tread depth should be 1.6mm, but a minimum of 3mm is recommended.
Studded tires are allowed from November 1st to April 15th.
Seat belts
The use of seat belts is mandatory on all seats, if any.
Kids in the car
Children under 135cm must use an approved safety device (seat or booster seat) suitable for their height and weight.
Children over 3 years of age but under 135cm must sit in the rear seat.
Alcohol in the car
In Denmark, the maximum blood alcohol limit is 0.5‰.
It is not permitted to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Denmark.
The amount of fines for drunk driving depends on the measured amount of alcohol in the blood in milliliters:
- Between 0.5 ‰ and 1.2 ‰: fine linked to monthly income according to the per thousand
- More than 2.0‰: a net monthly income and up to 20 days in prison.
Depending on the amount of alcohol in the blood, a driving ban of 3 to 10 years may also be imposed.
